William Saliba on the verge of Arsenal record

Arsenal defender William Saliba is on the verge of breaking a record for the North London side, and could write himself in the history books as early as Saturday’s game at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Frenchman has been a revelation since his arrival at the club and, following loan spells in his native France, has left no doubt as to his quality – emerging as one of the world’s best defenders.

Saliba has so far made 65 appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League and, in that time, he has won 49 games – a more than impressive win rate of 75 per cent.

Saliba has gone from strength to strength over the last year, and became a stalwart member of Didier Deschamps’ France team at Euro 2024, after finally convincing the veteran manager of his talents.

His injury towards the end of the 2022/23 season was largely to blame for the Gunners’ late-season implosion as they gave up their healthy lead to allow Manchester City to lift the Premier League title.

Even if Arsenal and Saliba do not beat Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, the 23-year-old will still have three opportunities to break the record – in games against Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur.
