UEFA has announced a significant correction to Arsenal’s Champions League squad list after an initial oversight caused confusion among fans.

After an initial blunder that left fans puzzled, UEFA has executed a key change to the squad list for Arsenal in the Champions League.

UEFA has clarified that the listing of Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli as number 10 in the Gunners’ squad for the 2024-25 Champions League was an error, confirming that the Brazilian will retain his number 11 shirt.

The announcement caused confusion among Arsenal supporters, who noticed the unexpected number change on the website, leading many to believe it was an official update.

Martinelli has consistently worn the number 11 jersey, and he will continue to do so, with UEFA promptly correcting the oversight.

Additionally, UEFA may need to address another discrepancy, as summer signing and Dutch goalkeeper Tommy Setford is still shown as number 35 on their site, despite his official number with Arsenal being 36.

While number 35 is a legitimate first-team number, it remains uncertain whether this assignment to the 18-year-old is also an error.

Scottish international left-back Kieran Tierney is still listed on the website, confirming his inclusion in Arsenal’s squad for the league phase of the new Champions League format.

The North London club will compete against teams from Pot 1, Pot 2, Pot 3, and Pot 4 in this prestigious European tournament, facing Inter Milan, Atalanta, Sporting Lisbon, and Girona away, while hosting Paris Saint-Germain, Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb, and AS Monaco at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will kick off their campaign on September 19 with an away match against Atalanta, followed by their first home Champions League game of the 2024-25 season against PSG on October 1.

After being eliminated by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals last season, the Gunners are determined to advance further this year.
