Tennis fans are criticising Carlos Alcaraz’s latest decision as concern forms for him

The 21-year-old came off a successful 2024 season in which he became the youngest player to win the French Open and Wimbledon in the same season.

He added two more titles and an Olympic silver medal to his list of achievements over the past 12 months and is looking to hit the ground running next season.

But it has since been announced that Alcaraz will add another exhibition event to his calendar, which many fans are not impressed with.

Tennis fans react to Carlos Alcaraz’s latest schedule decision

Carlos Alcaraz played in four exhibition events in 2024, the last of which came against Francis Tiafoe in Charlotte, North Carolina.

It has now been confirmed that they will play each other in another exhibition contest on March 2, 2025 in Puerto Rico.

2016 Olympic champion and hometown hero Monica Puig is set to make an appearance at the event, set to emanate from San Juan.

While Alcaraz is looking forward to the event, fans have criticised him for signing to another exhibition event, after he complained about the length of the schedule this past season.

X user @PrideofSpuyten wrote: “Not a wise decision given his laundry list of injuries. Rest your body for real tournaments and the money will come,” and @yongolini posted: “Not sure if it’s a good thing. Just hope he stays healthy and injury free next season.”
