SPAIN CAPTAIN MORATA: BARCELONA STAR HAS THE POTENTIAL TO WIN THE BALLON D’OR

Spanish national team captain Álvaro Morata has this weekend moved to lavish praise on international teammate Pedri.

As much comes fresh off an outing to remember for the Barcelona star on Saturday.

Afforded a starting berth in Spain’s final warm-up fixture ahead of the European Championships, Pedri dazzled from his berth in the middle of the park.

After first drawing La Roja on level terms against Northern Ireland courtesy of a brilliant long-range strike, the 21-year-old was later at the double, arriving late in the penalty area to slot home Nico Williams’ cross from close range.

As much proved the catalyst for a comeback 5-1 victory for the Spanish.

The performance has since given rise to widespread chatter surrounding Pedri’s abilities, as some who may have forgotten receive a timely reminder of just what a special talent the youngster is when fully fit and firing.

One, though, who had evidently not required such a reminder, comes in the form of the aforementioned Álvaro Morata.

This comes with La Roja’s captain having revealed to the media his take that Pedri is one of a small contingent of Luis de la Fuente’s squad boasting the necessary abilities to lift the Ballon d’Or.

“He’s one of our players with the potential to win the Ballon d’Or.”
