As per Julian McKenize of The Athletic, expect the Ottawa Senators to make a push this season. As the team starts to win games and put themselves in a more comfortable playoff spot, McKenzie believes it’s time for the team and, specifically GM Steve Staios, to push his chips in.
Believed to be sellers again when the season started, the Senators have come on strong of late. They lost their most recent game to the Edmonton Oilers, but before that, the team had won six in a row. That run has placed them in fifth place in the Atlantic and they hold the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. What the Sens don’t want to do is lose any momentum.
Senators Need a Pick-Me-Up Move
With news that goaltender Linus Ullmark is not going on the road trip with the Senators and the team will be without him for several games, a move might be better made sooner rather than later. A losing streak for the Senators could be disastrous.
It’s not evident what big moves Staios can actually make at this time. The New York Rangers are a team looking to make changes and there is speculation that Buffalo Sabres might be open to a deal. Would Chris Kreider or Dylan Cozens be of interest?
