Ryan Reynolds, Hollywood A-lister and co-owner of Wrexham, has lauded the team’s star player Paul Mullin for his spectacular goal against Blackpool.
Despite a challenging start to the season due to back surgery, Mullin reminded fans of his prowess with an impressive first-half effort on Boxing Day, which many are already calling the goal of the season. Blackpool initially took the lead in the match thanks to Ashley Fletcher, but Wrexham’s Ollie Palmer set up Mullin for a powerful left-footed volley that equalized the score.
The game was ultimately won by Phil Parkinson’s side after a late penalty was successfully converted by veteran forward Steven Fletcher, much to Reynolds’ delight. After the match, Reynolds shared footage of Mullin’s equalizer on Instagram, captioning it: “This one. So pretty…”
Mullin responded warmly to the praise, replying: “Merry Christmas with love” along with a kiss-blowing emoji. Since signing with Wrexham in the summer of 2021, Mullin and Reynolds have developed a close friendship.
Mullin, who has scored over 100 goals for the Red Dragons, even made a surprise appearance in this year’s ‘Deadpool vs Wolverine’ movie. Wrexham’s recent triumph over Blackpool secured their third spot in League One, furthering their astounding bid for a third consecutive promotion with Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at the helm.
Post-match, Wrexham assistant manager Steve Parkin praised Mullin’s potential for more goals, saying, “He’s got that finish in him, left foot or right foot from distance. He’s got a violent strike.
