The New Orleans Saints are planning to interview Mike McCarthy for their head coaching vacancy. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network , the Saints are expected to speak to McCarthy early next week.
McCarthy is looking for a new head coaching position after having the same role with the Dallas Cowboys from 2020 to 2024. During his time in Dallas, McCarthy posted a 49-35 record and won two NFC East titles. McCarthy’s contract with the Cowboys expired last week, and both parties could not agree on a new deal.
Mike McCarthy, 61, began his NFL head coaching career in 2006 when he became the head coach of the Green Bay Packers. He was there for 13 seasons and led the team to a Super Bowl win during the 2010 season. McCarthy also won six NFC North titles and led the Packers to four NFC Championship appearances.
The Saints are looking for a new head coach after firing Dennis Allen halfway through the season. Darren Rizzi took over as the interim head coach and led the Saints to a 3-5 record in their final eight games.
