We just received an announcement from the Montreal Canadiens ahead of this morning’s practice, and it involves two players, including Patrik Laine.
Laine and Mike Matheson have officially been sidelined for rest today and are undergoing a day of treatments.
The Canadiens will call the media for a press conference after practice, around noon, and we’re likely to learn more at that time.

I’d still like to say that, for now, nothing indicates Laine is at risk of missing the next game, but it’s still a situation to keep an eye on.

Quietly, Laine has played several games in a short period and is coming back from a major injury, so it would be perfectly normal to give him some additional rest.
This is probably part of his return-to-play program.
Laine, 26 years old, is a 6-foot-4, 208-pound forward who was drafted second overall in 2016 by the Winnipeg Jets and was acquired by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens this past August.
He has 4 points in 4 games with the Canadiens this season, including 3 goals, and has been truly impressive since his return to play.
