Jurrien Timber has insisted Arsenal want to “win everything” this season ahead of the crunch FA Cup clash against Manchester United this weekend.

The Gunners welcome Ruben Amorim’s side to Emirates Stadium on Sunday hoping to book a place in the fourth round of the competition. They go into the clash on the back of a disappointing defeat against Newcastle, though.

Arsenal fell to a 2-0 home loss to Newcastle in the opening leg of their semi-final on Tuesday, with the loss coming just days after a 1-1 draw with Brighton in the Premier League. The result against the Seagulls means Liverpool are six points clear having played a game less.

Asked if the FA Cup clash will carry greater importance in the wake of their defeat to Newcastle, Timber said: “It was already a big game because United always is. We want to win and give the fans something to celebrate so we are going to give our all on Sunday. I am really looking forward to that game and to bounce back. It is another cup game so we have to win.

“Every competition is really important. We want to win everything. It is not easy, and it is not always going to happen, but that is why it is important that we bounce back. The focus is on the FA Cup and then, after that, the Premier League.”

Arsenal secured a 2-0 league victory over Man Utd last month but Amorim’s side will arrive in north London brimming with confidence after their 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. But Timber added: “We played them already a month ago so we know what we are getting. They have a good squad with a lot of good players. It is not going to be easy but we will be ready.”

Jobe Bellingham has reportedly made a decision over his future at Sunderland following reports that a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ is in place, as both Arsenal and Manchester United are heavily linked with a move.

The younger brother of Real Madrid and England superstar Jude Bellingham has been in outstanding form so far this season, playing a major role as The Black Cats push for promotion back to the Premier League after being relegated eight years ago.

Bellingham has scored four goals and added three assists in 23 Championship outings this term while playing in several different central midfield roles. Indeed, despite his attacking threat, the 19-year-old has played many of his games in a holding role.

That sort of versatility, to go along with the Bellingham name, has seen Sunderland reportedly slap a £20million price tag on the teenager’s head  – not bad for a player who only cost £1.5m when he joined from Birmingham 18 months ago.

Arsenal and United are not expected to be overly active in the market this month but both clubs have scouted Bellingham regularly and FootballTransfers claims that a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ is in place with Sunderland ‘should a suitable offer arise’ from a Premier League club.

However, The Sun reports that Bellingham has no plans to leave the north east club this month, despite some serious interest in his services, which includes Arsenal, United and also Crystal Palace.

Indeed, it’s reported that the talented midfielder actually has his eye on a move to Europe in the summer to continue his development abroad and follow the path taken by his elder sibling, who joined Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham, before his eventual move to Real.

Arsenal owners Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE) have created a new division to sell sponsorship across its wide portfolio of sporting assets.

Led by Arsenal director Olly Dale and head of global partnerships for the KSE-owned So-Fi Stadium and Hollywood Park, Chris Sloan, the newly-created Kroenke Signature Properties is part the KSE plan to better integrate the company’s holdings more closely and maximise revenue potential. Each individual component of the KSE portfolio will continue to manage their own sales efforts.

In addition to Arsenal, among the assets in the KSE portfolio aside include the Los Angeles Rams (NFL), the Denver Nuggets (NBA), the Colorado Avalanche (NHL), and the Colorado Rapids (MLS). The company also has extensive real estate attached to their sporting assets such as the Gunners’ Emirates Stadium home, the So-Fi Stadium where the LA Rams play, and the Nuggets’ Ball Arena home.

“We’re in a unique position where we can utilize the resources and expertise we’ve got all across the group, to offer something to brands that’s pretty unique in the marketplace.”

While any category could conceivably be sold globally, but KSE chiefs believe that the most obvious opportunities come via technology vendors or other suppliers that may be interested in doing business across the venues that KSE owns in LA, Denver and London.

The beginning of 2025 has been tumultuous for Arsenal with an impressive win to kick off the year before disappointing results at Brighton and at home to Newcastle to bring us back down to reality, hard. The feeling of misfortune remains strong, especially following the contentious penalty call at the Amex Stadium and the glut of chances wasted against the Magpies.

Yet it is the lack of clinical finishing that remains high up in concerns for a number of people, and that leads us into the state of the transfer window. Arsenal have money to spend, to a degree, following the end of the summer window when both Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah were sold.

This added to what was made from the sale of Emile Smith Rowe and, if you look at how all three have performed since leaving the club, to have brought in around £90million, including add-ons looks like excellent business. Yet that has not bought with it much credence in regard to the lack of offensive signings in particular.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been hammered after the defeat to Newcastle United, with Troy Deeney claiming that Gunners boss is wrong to trust two players while a Sky Sports pundit is not happy with the direction that the team are going in.

The Gunners’ chances of reaching the final of the Carabao Cup this season suffered a huge blow on Tuesday, as they lost the first leg of the semi-final tie against Newcastle. Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon scored the goals for the Magpies, as they registered a 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium in North London.

It was a hugely disappointing performance from Arsenal, who were at home for the first leg and were expected to win against Newcastle.

The Gunners had more possession than Newcastle and took 23 shots. However, only three of those attempts were on target. In sharp contrast, Eddie Howe’s side took just seven shots and four of them were on target.

Kai Havertz started as the main man upfront in a 4-3-3 formation before Arteta decided to bring on Gabriel Jesus for Leandro Trossard in the 59th minute.

While Havertz was guilty of missing a very good chance in the second half, Jesus failed to trouble the Newcastle defence despite looking sharp.

Troy Deeney was not at all impressed with how Arsenal played and has slammed Arteta for not signing a quality striker for the past two seasons.

Viktor Gyokeres has evolved into a formidable goalscorer. With an impressive tally of 78 goals in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon since his move to Portugal in July 2023, he is expected to be one of the most sought-after players in Europe this summer with both Arsenal and Chelsea linked.

However, his journey to stardom wasn’t overnight. His transformation can be traced back to his two-and-a-half-year stint with Championship side Coventry City.

“Adi Viveash, the first team coach and assistant manager at the time, initially had doubts about Gyokeres’ potential. However, he credited Mark Robins, Coventry’s manager at the time, for firmly believing that Gyokeres was a top player in the making”.

After a modest start with only five goals in a six-month loan at Coventry, the player’s fortunes took a sharp turn as he netted 40 goals over the following two seasons post his permanent signing. Turner sheds light on the transformation: “He came back [in the summer] stronger, hungrier, fitter and more determined than ever, and he was just so single-minded and focused.

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak suffered a potential injury after helping beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Sweden international, with the rumours intensifying in recent weeks with the January transfer window now opening. Arsenal were first credited with an interest in signing Isak last summer as the club were tipped to add a striker to their squad.

In the end, Mikel Arteta did not bring a new centre-forward to his squad, but the rumours have resurfaced since the New Year. Reports have claimed that Newcastle value Isak at around £150million, which has caused doubt over the Gunners’ chances of getting a deal over the line, if the interest turns out to be genuine.

Tuesday night saw Arsenal go up against Isak and Newcastle, with the Gunners on the receiving end of a 2-0 defeat in the semi-final first leg of the Carabao Cup. Isak opened the scoring for the visitors at the Emirates Stadium, with Anthony Gordon also on the score sheet.

However, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe later admitted there was concern around Isak’s fitness after the striker was substituted just after the hour mark.

“First half he [Isak] was electric, I thought he played really well,” Howe told Chronicle Live. “He scored but I just thought his general game was in a really good place.

It remains to be seen if Isak’s injury will leave him on the sidelines in the days or weeks ahead. Arsenal will take on Newcastle in the second leg at St James’ Park on February 5, which will be their first game after the transfer window closes.

Should Isak have suffered an injury it may also affect Arsenal’s decision-making when it comes to choosing whether or not to try and sign the striker before the deadline. Isak has scored 15 goals in all competitions for Newcastle this season, including 13 in the Premier League.

The player in question is Myles Lewis-Skelly, who played well against Newcastle and showcased his talent and composure.

There were several instances when the 18-year-old came under serious pressure, the kind that would’ve seen Newcastle get a shot in had he lost the ball.

However, Lewis-Skelly was able to get out of those hairy situations, turning one into an Arsenal free kick and another into an incisive attack.

And though there was one instance where he gave the ball away to Isak in a dangerous position, it was a rare error in a display the kind of which you’d see from a star in his prime.

Lewis-Skelly’s ball control is outstanding and he’s incredibly brave on the ball, making him a huge asset for Arsenal at such a young age.

And as he continues to develop as a player, it’ll be exciting to see just how much better he can become.
