It looks like the midfielder signing Arsenal will complete this summer will be Mikel Merino. The Spaniard, who impressed during Euro 2024, could sign on the dotted line for a fee of around £25million before the transfer window closes.
Arsenal have been determined to strengthen their midfield this summer, with question marks over Thomas Partey’s future and Jorginho not getting any younger.
A number of players have been linked, but it is Merino’s name that has stood out and there is still work to be done before the signing can be confirmed, there have been a plethora of updates from those in the know.
Squad omission
Real Sociedad are in pre-season friendly action on Friday evening as they take on Union Berlin in Germany. But Merino is not part of the squad.
