Matthijs de Ligt bid ‘rejected’ as Manchester United identify new transfer target

The summer transfer window rolls on and Manchester United could still have several new signings arrive at Old Trafford.

United have already signed Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro this summer as Erik ten Hag looks to prepare the team for the new Premier League campaign. Despite already getting two new signings through the door, United are continuing to be linked with further new additions.

Centre-back is an area of the squad that United are known to be looking to strengthen, while midfielders are also known to be on the agenda this summer. United have until September 2 to complete their transfer business for the window until it reopens again in the New Year.

United have reportedly been dealt a blow in their quest to sign Matthijs de Ligt. The Reds have an interest in signing the Bayern Munich defender as they look to strengthen their centre-back options.

United have had a bid for De Ligt rejected by Bayern worth €35million (£29.5million). However, it’s been stated that the offer was rejected due to the Bundesliga giants demanding a larger fee.

De Ligt is reportedly valued at €50million (£42million) by Bayern, and the report claims that United are still in negotiations with the Bundesliga giants over a deal. United are looking to sign at least two new central defenders and have already added Yoro to their squad.
