Mount joined United in 2023 after completing a £50m transfer from Chelsea that summer. The end of his time at Stamford Bridge was far from ideal, but there was hope that Erik ten Hag could find the best in the Englishman at Old Trafford.

However, a couple of injuries, including a serious one to his calf, caused him to play just 20 matches for United in his debut campaign. Fortunately, he was able to return before the end of the 2023/24 season, and he made a brief cameo as the Reds won the FA Cup against Manchester City.

After missing so many minutes on the sidelines with injury, Mount has been keen to keep his fitness up in the close season. In recent weeks, Mount has taken to social media to document his personal training regime to ensure he is in the best possible condition for the United States pre-season tour at the end of July.

Thankfully, that gruelling solo work has now come to an end for Mount as he, along with a few other United players, returned to pre-season training on Monday morning. Sharing a selection of pictures from his arrival at Carrington, Mount posted the caption: ‘Back,” to his Instagram story which suggests he will be available for consideration immediately once friendly matches begin.
