Manchester United will look to bounce back from their defeat against Rosenborg in a friendly against Rangers on Saturday afternoon. United travel to Edinburgh as the match will take place at the unusual venue of Scottish Gas Murrayfield as renovation work continues on Rangers’ Ibrox Stadium.
United travelled to Norway last week for their first match of pre-season. Big names such as Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, Johnny Evans, and Aaron Wan Bissaka started alongside several youngsters including 18-year-old academy prospect Ethan Wheatley. Erik ten Hag used the full depth of his squad making 10 substitutions during the match.
After the fixture, the United manager told MUTV that he expects more from his players. He said: I know you cannot be match fit in this moment, so we need these games to get there. I know we are playing against players who are already going in their league, they have a much higher fitness level, but still, we are Man United and players from Man United should perform better.”
On Saturday afternoon, the United boss is expected to name a few more senior players in the match day squad with Andre Onana, Antony, Amad, and Victor Lindelof expected to return to the fold. It would be optimistic to expect new signing Leny Yoro to be involved but it should not be totally ruled out after his transfer from Ligue side Lille this week.
