Manchester United get major player boost for Community Shield vs Man City – Wembley squad confirmed

Harry Maguire is back in the Manchester United squad for the Community Shield against City at Wembley on Saturday.

Maguire was left out of the squad for the 3-0 friendly defeat to Liverpool in South Carolina last Saturday as a precaution and his participation against City was described as a “question mark” by manager Erik ten Hag on Thursday.

However, the 31-year-old centre half has travelled with the United squad to London for their opening game of the season.

Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw were all absent when the United squad boarded their train at Stockport Station.

“Harry Maguire missed the game (against Liverpool), was a precaution but is still a question mark for Saturday,” Ten Hag said on Thursday. “So we have training, we have to see whether he is fit enough or not to be available.

“Victor played but also he’s a question mark and also Azza (Aaron Wan-Bissaka) and Luke Shaw are both question marks, we have to assess them tomorrow.”
