Scott McTominay could be a sellable asset for Manchester United this summer as two Premier League sides step up interest.
For Manchester United, this summer is about getting started on the rebuild which has been long required at the club and Ineos have already made a solid start.
Ineos have released both Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane along with selling Donny van de Beek and Willy Kambwala, while more are expected to follow.
Mason Greenwood’s move to Marseille looks imminent, a move which will hand United a huge amount of PSR leeway thanks to his homegrown status.
Now, it seems the club are looking to do the same thing with Scott McTominay after he made his return to Carrington this week.
Scott McTominay has two Premier League clubs interested
Academy graduates seem to be the flavour of the month to sell for Ineos, as United look to raise funds to overhaul a squad which finished eighth last season.
Now, following Greenwood and Kambwala sales, Scott McTominay could also be heading for the exit door, according to Manchester World.
The report explains that both West Ham United and Fulham are keen on signing the Scot who scored seven Premier League goals last season.
Fulham are believed to be leading the race, but West Ham are also in the running, with no official bid made just yet according to the report.
In order to let McTominay go this summer, United will demand between £30m and £35m. A fee which is more than fair considering he has possibly two years on his contract – if United trigger the year extension.
Continuing, it’s added that United are also looking to sell Hannibal Mejbri and Casemiro as well, in order to fund the club’s midfield rebuild with several targets.
How should United rebuild the midfield?
Within the report, it’s stated that United have three midfield options this summer. All of these are for varying price tags and would leave fans excited to different levels as well.
Joao Neves as expected remains on the list, but with PSG looking to advance over this move, United could miss out – only a McTominay sale would make this move possible.
This moves us on perfectly to option number two, with Manuel Ugarte looking the most likely choice, costing significantly less than Neves. PSG would also be keen to sell Ugarte if they do get Neves. United are expected to bid for Ugarte over the next few days according to reports.
The final option is one which won’t be exciting to fans, with Adrien Rabiot expected to be available as a free agent. Even though he’s free, this is a move Ineos must steer clear of.
