Man United transfer news RECAP Manuel Ugarte move close amid Sekou Kone agreement

We are just over a week from deadline day for the Premier League and the rest of Europe, but while it will soon be time for the market to shut, the Reds are still working on deals. The most likely incoming at this stage is Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Erik ten Hag wants to sign the Uruguay international on either a permanent deal or on loan with either an obligation or option to buy in the summer of 2025. The preference would be to sign him permanently, but the fee of £51.5m is out of their price range, meaning a loan with an obligation to buy is now the most likely outcome

However, any move could become more manageable if Jadon Sancho moves on before the end of the window. The United winger is back in the fold with Ten Hag, and is valued at £40m by the Reds.

However, matching the player’s wages is seemingly stalling any move away. Scott McTominay is another player who could be on the move with Napoli showing interest in the midfielder, but they must meet United’s £30m asking price.

Hannibal Mejbri could also head to Championship club Burnley, while Will Fish is on the verge of signing for Cardiff City. Facundo Pellistri has already completed a move to Panathinaikos, but the expectation is that Victor Lindelof will now stay.

One surprise move is the seemingly imminent arrival of Sekou Kone. United have reportedly agreed on a deal with Malian side Guidars FC for the teenage defensive midfielder, who will likely join the club’s under-21s alongside other summer signing Chido Obi Martin.
