Manchester United are internally ‘considering’ a move for England striker Ivan Toney this summer – despite adding Joshua Zirkzee to their ranks – but there is one significant catch over a would-be transfer.
The 28-year-old is said to have Arsenal, Chelsea and other Premier League sides chasing his signature. However, a revived switch to Old Trafford could happen if Brentford reduce their asking price.
Toney only has 12 months to run on his contract with the Bees. The former Peterborough striker could be available for under £40million, though, putting United on red alert.
Of course, the Old Trafford giants will have to take wage demands into account – and there being enough room in their squad – but the Brentford man underlined his talent on the biggest stage this summer when featuring at Euro 2024 for heartbroken finalists England. He scored an important penalty in their quarter-final shootout win.
