As part of his award, William Floyd High School junior Ja’Quan Thomas, the starting running back for the Colonials, and his family were invited to attend the Jets’ home game against the Los Angeles Rams at MetLife Stadium Dec. 22.
At the game, he was invited on the field and recognized for his accomplishments.
In addition, the Jets and Gatorade donated $1,000 to Floyd’s football program.
Thomas had an “amazing” season, in which he rushed for 2,594 yards and 37 touchdowns, helping lead his team to the Suffolk County title. He was also named a co-recipient of the Joe Cipp Award for Suffolk County’s best running back, named All-Long Island First Team by Newsday, and was the Division I MVP.
