At 7-8, the Dallas Cowboys are out of playoff contention. This, however, has not stopped “America’s Team” from playing some of their best defense of the season. It all started after the Cowboys’ Week 11 34-10 loss against the Houston Texans.
Following the embarrassing loss, Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer challenged Parsons to be a better leader for the defensive unit that Zimmer saw so much potential in. Parsons has stepped up and then some in response to Zimmer’s challenge.
At the time, it was Parsons’ second game back from an ankle injury that sidelined him since Week 4. In spite of the many injuries that have plagued the Cowboys’ defense, since Parsons’ return, the Cowboys have been in the top five in turnovers, sacks, and third down defense. On top of the bigger leadership role Parsons has taken, he’s seen himself improving on the field as well.
“I would just say I’m just locked in, I think ever since I committed to that, I’ve been playing better myself,” Parsons said. “I’ve just been locked in, I’ve just been showing guys the way, just trying to do everything right, cleaning things up of my own acting accord.”
