Lexi Thompson announces engagement just weeks after final full-time LPGA Tour start

Lexi Thompson has called it a full-time career on the LPGA Tour, and the former major winner and standout player is now transitioning to a new phase of her life.

Thompson shared that she is engaged to her long-time boyfriend, Max Provost, after he proposed during a holiday trip to Whistler in Canada.

“The best part of my trip to Whistler,” wrote Thompson. “I said YES to my forever and always.”

This sport has taught me a lot, and I’ve learned so much along the way, built so many friendships and relationships. I’m looking forward to what life has in store.”

In making the announcement public, Thompson said she wanted to have a life outside of golf and focus time on starting a family and herself.

“I’ll be 30 next year (in 2025), so settle down, get married, have a family,” Thompson said. “That’s my No. 1 priority.”

Though Thompson has maintained a public image over her 14-year LPGA career, including doing several high-profile magazine covers and stories, she has sought to keep her private life out of the spotlight. Provost accompanied Thompson to a Solheim Cup gala in 2024, with many not knowing who he was. Now, the secret’s out — a bit.

While Thompson has no intentions of returning to the grind of a full-time career on the LPGA Tour, she has indicated she may play the occasional event, including the major championship she won that’s now known as The Chevron Championship in Texas.
