Teen wonderkid handed Arsenal squad number, he could be an even bigger talent than Ethan Nwaneri

Arsenal have now allowed one teenage sensation to take the next step in his career by handing him an official squad number.

There are a number of talented youth prospects on the books at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta may well give a few of them a chance to impress during the Gunners’ upcoming tour of the US, as a number of first-team regulars will be absent for that trip.

There is plenty of excitement at the Emirates Stadium about the likes of Ethan Nwaneri, Chido Martin-Obi, and Myles Lewis-Skelly, amongst others.

There is a plan for Nwaneri to progress further next season. Meanwhile, there is an argument that Lewis-Skelly could be Arsenal’s version of Kobbie Mainoo if he were to be given a chance by Arteta.

For now, though, all eyes are on Max Dowman, who has been handed a squad number and the chance to star for the under-18s side, despite being just 14-years-old.

Arsenal give Hale End academy gem Max Dowman a squad number

As reported by Arsenal Youth, Arsenal have handed Dowman the 99 shirt ahead of the upcoming season. Being handed an official squad number is a big moment in any young player’s career

It is highly unusual for a player to reach this milestone so young, and Dowman is also expected to play regularly for the under-18s this season, despite still being eligible for the under-15s.

He has already made seven appearances for the under-18s, racking up two goals and five assists.

Who is Arsenal starlet Max Dowman?

The young midfielder is excellent on the ball, boasts an impressive range of passing, and has caught the eye with his decision making. He is a creative player, with an eye for goal, and looks to have a bright future ahead of him.

Dowman will already be eyeing up a first team debut for the Gunners. Considering Arteta allowed Nwaneri to make his senior bow as a 15-year-old, making him the club’s youngest ever player in the process, it is not entirely unreasonable to suggest that Dowman could beat that record.

However, there are of still plenty of flaws and rough edges in the youngster’s game, and he is not physically ready to compete at senior level. Arteta is certainly aware of the player’s potential, though, as evidenced by his squad number.
