Arsenal are close to completing two deals with just over a week left of the summer transfer window. Mikel Merino’s move from Real Sociedad continues to edge closer, while Eddie Nketiah remains in talks over a switch to Nottingham Forest.
The completion of both these deals would leave around a week of the window remaining and there remains one key area that the majority believe needs to be reinforced. While a centre-forward is wanted, realistically this is not going to take place while a wide player may instead have far more potential.
Edon Zhegrova is a name that should be familiar to Arsenal supporters because the Kosovan international was linked with Arsenal in the last couple of years. He still plies his trade in France with Lille but is now 25 years of age and an established figure in the side.
Last season he recorded 12 goals and ten assists across 47 matches for the French side and this season has two goals in three UEFA Champions League qualifying matches. A right-sided left-footed player he fits the profile of someone who could add depth and European-level quality to the right wing and support Bukayo Saka but is a name perhaps that will fail to excite the majority of the fan base.
Kingsley Coman
A much more high-profile figure is Kingsley Coman. The France international remains on the books of Bayern Munich although is expected to struggle for game time because of the presence of Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, Mathys Tel and Michael Olise.
