Mikel Arteta has strengthened his squad in the current transfer window, with three permanent signings made so far.
Goalkeeper David Raya made his move loan from Brentford permanent, and he has been joined in the goalkeeping department by Tommy Setford. Defender Riccardo Calafiori has also joined, completing a £42million move from Bologna.
Having strengthened their goalkeeping and defensive positions, Arsenal are now making a move for a midfielder. Mikel Merino has emerged as a priority target with the Gunners reportedly in talks with Real Sociedad over a possible deal.
Presuming that move gets done, Arsenal may then move on to looking at the attack. Eddie Nketiah is looking likely to move on before the end of the window, with Bournemouth showing an interest in the striker, that will leave Arsenal with just Gabriel Jesus as the natural central striker, although Kai Havertz has deputised in that position well.
