Virginia Tech Softball Extends Winning Streak to 13 with Dominant Sweep of NC State

Virginia Tech’s softball team continues to dominate, extending their impressive winning streak to 13 games after completing a three-game sweep of North Carolina State in Raleigh this weekend. Entering the series on a 10-game win streak, the Hokies showed why they are one of the hottest teams in the country, taking control of each game with their potent offense and stellar pitching.

The Hokies wasted no time setting the tone for the series. In Friday’s opener, Virginia Tech cruised to a 10-2 victory, with standout pitcher Emma Lemley leading the charge in the circle. On Saturday, the Hokies maintained their momentum, defeating NC State 3-0 thanks to a strong performance from Emma Mazzarone, who shut down the Wolfpack’s offense. But it was Sunday’s game that sealed the sweep, as Virginia Tech clinched another run-rule victory behind a dominant combined effort from Sophie Kleiman and Lemley on the mound.

From the very first inning on Sunday, the Hokies displayed their offensive power. They quickly jumped to a 4-0 lead, capitalizing on a combination of walks, errors, and timely hits. The scoring spree began when Kylie Aldridge’s ground ball was mishandled by NC State, allowing two runs to score. Jordan Lynch followed with a run driven in on another Wolfpack error, and Zoe Yaeger added a sac-fly to push the lead to 4-0 before NC State even had a chance to bat.

Throughout the weekend, Virginia Tech’s pitching and defense were just as dominant as their offense. Lemley and Mazzarone, two of the team’s top pitchers, were nearly untouchable in their respective games, showing their ability to shut down opposing offenses. The Hokies’ balanced attack, both at the plate and in the field, has made them one of the most formidable teams in the nation.

With this sweep, Virginia Tech continues to rise in the standings, proving they’re not just a team on a hot streak — they’re a true powerhouse in ACC softball. As the Hokies look ahead, all eyes will be on them as they aim to extend their remarkable run and keep their championship hopes alive.
