Iga Swiatek thinks tricky Elena Rybakina will be great test ahead of Australian Open

Iga Swiatek insists she is really looking forward to meeting Elena Rybakina since she thinks it will be a great chance to test herself ahead of the Australian Open.

After Poland and Kazakhstan booked semifinal tickets at the United Cup, that automatically set up one of the most attractive matchups in women’s tennis.

As you probably know well, Rybakina has been a very challenging and tricky opponent for Swiatek and leads their head-to-head 4-2.

In their last meeting – which came on the clay courts of Stuttgart – the Kazakh even there managed to beat the Pole and prevent the world No. 2 from completing a three-peat.

Swiatek on facing Rybakina: It’s a nice challenge

“Honestly I’m happy, because it’s a nice challenge, especially before a Grand Slam. Elena likes playing in Australia, so for sure it’s going to be a challenge,” the five-time Grand Slam champion said.

It should be noted that all of Rybakina’s four wins against Swiatek have come since 2023.

When it specifically comes to playing in Australia, they have met once Down Under – the Kazakh ousted the Pole at the 2023 Australian Open.
