FC Barcelona has received a huge boost for its Spanish Super Cup campaign if reports from outlets such as AS, citing anonymous sources, are accurate.
The biggest news surrounding the Catalans in recent days is that – according to MARCA – President Joan Laporta has managed to secure a $104 million (€100 million) cash injection from the sale of VIP boxes at the Spotify Camp Nou stadium which is currently being renovated.
Though the iconic ground hasn’t yet been reopened, there was such urgency because of a December 31 deadline pertaining to the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
The Spanish forwards were Barca’s only two summer signings and could only be cleared to play until said date because of unique temporary permission granted in light of injuries suffered by Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo.
Though it appeared that there was a real risk of them not being allowed to feature under Hansi Flick in the rest of 2024/2025, that now doesn’t appear to be an issue in what will be a great boost to the German head coach.
