An insight into the potential knock-on effect of the departure of manager Xavi from La Liga giants Barcelona on the club’s squad planning for next season has today been forthcoming.
The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, and surrounds midfield pair Sergi Roberto, and Guido Rodríguez.
In the case of the former, the versatile Roberto is known to be a firm favourite of the aforementioned Xavi.
As per MD, however, this will not prove to be the case.
Roberto’s contract extension through the summer of 2025 will be given the green light, regardless of the situation in the dugout.
Turning attentions towards Guido, the Real Betis star, too, has of course seen his plans for 2024/25 somewhat thrown up in the air over recent days.
Xavi is understood to have been a leading voice behind Barcelona’s impending signing of the Argentine, who is understood to have reached a verbal agreement on the terms of a pre-contract with the Blaugrana beginning in the summer.
In the case of the touted new arrival on the bench in Catalunya’s capital seeing little use for Guido, his transfer therefore appeared to be hanging in the balance.
MD, though, assure that the World Cup winner, like Roberto, need not fret.
This comes with the decision to bring Guido in having already been finalised by the Camp Nou brass.
