Benjamin Sesko has reminded Arsenal exactly why he’s one of the most coveted strikers in Europe. The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer before opting to sign a new contract with RB Leipzig instead.
Sesko, who sees his deal at the Red Bull Arena expire in June 2029, has featured 20 times in the Bundesliga this season, scoring nine goals and providing three assists. Playing a key role in Marco Rose’s side, the Slovenia international has fired Die Roten Bullen to fourth in the table.
His impressive performances in the German top flight haven’t gone under the radar, attracting interest from some big clubs in Europe – including Arsenal.
It’s said that he could leave RB Leipzig at the end of the season, with a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ in place. At the weekend, Sesko reminded Arsenal exactly why they wanted to sign him, netting his 100th career goal in a 2-0 win over St. Pauli.
RB Leipzig caught St. Pauli on the counter-attack after a brilliant save from Péter Gulácsi. Xavi Simons carried the ball into the opposition’s half before playing a perfectly weighted pass behind the opposition’s backline and into Sesko’s path.
