Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen deals as £52m star signs – Arsenal’s dream January window

Arsenal signing a striker this winter transfer window no longer appears to be the stuff of dreams.

Gabriel Jesus suffered in the FA Cup third-round exit to Manchester United has changed the situation, with the Gunners increasingly keen to make additions.

Mikel Arteta has also acknowledged that they will look to sign a striker in light of Jesus and Bukayo Saka both being out with injuries.

Osimhen arrives

Arsenal should pursue signing a striker on loan until the end of the season. Who better to pursue than someone who has already spent the first half of this campaign away from their parent club?

Victor Osimhen only signed for Galatasaray after a move to the Premier League was no longer possible. Chelsea tried to sign the player last summer, with Osimhen appearing open to that move, so a switch to London should still appeal.

There is seemingly no way back at Napoli. The Gunners should go for the Nigeria international and convince him a six-month move would suit both parties.

Sesko signs

football.london understands Arsenal are still interested in Benjamin Sesko, but a permanent move this month appears unlikely. The player’s agent has already downplayed the chances of a loan move, so the best-case scenario is to agree on a deal ahead of the summer transfer window opening.

RB Leipzig has previously agreed to future deals in advance, notably when arranging for Naby Keita to sign for Liverpool the summer before he joined Jurgen Klopp ‘s team. With the new Red Bull head of global soccer having previously benefited from such a deal while on Merseyside, sorting Sesko’s future this month could suit both clubs.

Zubimendi deal

Martin Zubimendi is a player Arsenal are already working to bring in for the summer, so reaching an agreement before the end of this window would make sense. The player has a £52million release clause, and the Gunners could pay a premium to secure the signing in advance.
