Athletic Club president Jon Uriarte has played down speculation linking Nico Williams with a move to Barcelona this summer.
Williams is one of several wingers believed to be on the club’s radar, along with Luis Diaz and Dani Olmo.
However, Uriarte insists the Spain international is happy at Athletic Club and he’s not too worried about the speculation surrounding his future.
“We are not here to talk about rumors. Nico is very happy in Bilbao and in Athletic and has commented on this many times. We are very happy with Nico,” he told reporters.
The president added that Athletic are “not paying much attention to those rumors that appear” and are focused “on working to achieve an attractive project” for the players.
Uriarte added he wants his club “to be fighting for the maximum, to reach the highest levels, to fight for titles and compete in Europe.”
There is mounting speculation that Barcelona may be able to spend this summer as they are hoping to return to the 1:1 rule, with a left winger and a defensive midfielder believed to tbe the club’s priorities.
