Arsenal are ready to cash in on highly-rated striker Mika Biereth in this summer’s transfer window.
That’s according to the director of his loan club Sturm Graz, who says they’re keen to sign the youngster compared to Erling Haaland and Harry Kane permanently.
Arsenal’s hunt for a goal-hungry number nine has spanned multiple seasons, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus unable to aid the squad in getting the better of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Arriving after impressing in Fulham’s youth setup, London-born Danish marksman Biereth also hasn’t been able to add an edge and failed to make any dent in Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans. A series of loans allowed the young striker to gain experience, but it seems he now finds himself on the chopping block.
Biereth spent last season in Austria with Sturm Graz, where he played a respectable role in securing an Austrian Bundesliga title and Cup double.
With his Arsenal contract reaching its final year, the Austrian club’s director is keen on keeping Biereth post-loan deal and has stated that the player is for sale.
The Danish youth international has previously expressed his desire to relocate permanently and has also compared himself to two of the world’s greatest goal threats, Haaland and Kane.
“There are different aspects of the game when scoring goals isn’t possible when the ball is deep so then it’s about combining, linking the play, holding the ball up like Kane does. Those are the two different variables on the pitch.
“It gets a bit boring after a while, trying to find a home. I like the idea of settling down somewhere and not having to think about all the extra stuff of different houses, different places and different cars and all of that.”
There is evidently still some negotiation to be done with the north London club, but Biereth is more than likely departing Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer – and a return to Austria could be on the cards.
