Arsenal star Gabriel Magalhaes makes Bournemouth feelings clear after shock defeat and red card

Gabriel Magalhaes is putting Arsenal’s surprise 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth quickly behind him. After a first loss of the season for Mikel Arteta’s side, there are bigger challenges on the horizon.

Second-half goals from Ryan Christie and Justin Kluivert condemned the Gunners to a first domestic away defeat in 2024. Having entered the game in a strong position, William Saliba’s red card after just 30 minutes changed the complexion of things.

He was sent off following a foul on Evanilson that denied Bournemouth a clear goalscoring opportunity. It is the third time an Arsenal player has been dismissed already this term.

Gabriel, who was then partnered by Jakub Kiwior – but only until the centre-back was subsequently subbed back off late on – has quickly shifted attention. With the third Champions League group phase match coming up on Tuesday against Shakhtar Donetsk and the visit of Liverpool following, Arsenal know they need to respond.
