Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has lauded Leandro Trossard’s mentality following the Belgian’s impactful performance off the bench in the Gunners’ 2-0 win against Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Arsenal secured their second win of the season on Saturday night, with goalkeeper David Raya playing a crucial role by denying Ollie Watkins in a one-on-one situation, keeping the match level.
Aston Villa squandered several chances, with Watkins missing another clear opportunity in the first half, ultimately paying the price for their wastefulness in front of goal.
With the score still goalless, Arteta introduced Trossard in the 65th minute, replacing Gabriel Martinelli. Just two minutes later, the Belgian international found the back of the net, breaking the deadlock. Trossard continued to apply pressure on Villa’s defense, and Thomas Partey’s long-range strike later sealed the victory for Arsenal.
