Arsenal more likely to sign gigantic midfielder who is shining at Euro 2024

Arsenal are expected to prioritise strengthening their midfield in this summer’s transfer window. The Gunners need reinforcements in multiple areas, but midfield appears to be the top priority.

The club has already allowed Mohamed Elneny to leave, and both Thomas Partey and Albert Sambi Lokonga are on the chopping block. This leaves only Declan Rice and Jorginho in defensive midfield, which is insufficient for the 2023/24 season.

Arsenal have been linked with numerous midfielders since the start of 2024. Manager Mikel Arteta, a former midfielder himself, understands the necessity of bolstering the middle of the park with top-quality additions. The Gunners need to either sign a number six to push Rice further up the pitch or bring in a box-to-box midfielder, which would require Rice to accept a deeper role.

Reports indicate that Arteta will hold talks with Rice to determine his primary position for next season.

According to GiveMeSport, Arsenal have shown interest in several midfielders. Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes is a target, but he is reportedly more inclined towards a move to Manchester City. Similarly, Arsenal’s interest in Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi seems to be waning, with reports suggesting the Gunners are backing away from that deal.

Arsenal interested in Amadou Onana
The player Arsenal are now most likely to sign is Everton’s Amadou Onana. The club has initiated discussions to explore the possibility of a deal.

Onana has impressed since joining Everton from Lille in 2022. Currently on international duty with Belgium at Euro 2024, Onana possesses all the qualities of a deep-lying midfielder, making him an attractive option for Arsenal.

Standing at 6ft 5in, Onana’s size is notable, but what sets him apart is his speed. His top speed in the 2023/24 season was 36.65 km/h, faster than any Arsenal player.

Onana is a complete midfielder—quick, strong, good on the ball, and excellent in the air. His versatility and physical attributes make him an ideal candidate to strengthen Arsenal’s midfield this summer.
