Arsenal given Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid transfer advice after Chelsea error

Conor Gallagher is on the verge of a move to Atletico Madrid having agreed to a £33million transfer to the Spanish club. After a long drawn-out saga, the England international midfielder finally decided to accept the proposal and make the switch to La Liga.

The move has drawn plenty of attention with many critical of Chelsea’s decision to move on yet another one of their key figures of a struggling group. Gallagher alongside Cole Palmer were the standout players of the prior campaign.

Trevoh Chalobah is also reportedly being offered to potential suitors, opening the door for not just one but two first-team Cobham graduates to leave. Are Chelsea facing something of an identity crisis as they wrestle back to positive form under new coach Enzo Maresca?

Interestingly, Arsenal managed to acquire a bigger fee for Emile Smith Rowe, £34million, than Gallagher despite playing significantly fewer minutes. The Gunners are keen to replace Smith Rowe with Mikel Merino, although so far the club is yet to make an official offer.
