In recent weeks, it’s been reported that Arsenal are very interested in a move for Joan Garcia. The 23-year-old goalkeeper recently helped Espanyol secure immediate promotion back to La Liga, although he may not have the opportunity to represent Los Pericos in the top tier of Spanish football.
Garcia currently has a €25m release clause, which is the price that Arsenal would need to pay in order to sign him. However, that will not be his valuation for long, as MD have reported that a clause in Garcia’s contract means that his release clause will rise to €30m during the later stages of the summer transfer window.
Garcia’s release clause would rise further to €35m if he debuts with the senior Spanish national team, although that cannot happen until September at the earliest. Espanyol will be hoping to keep their prized youngster, but right now, it doesn’t look very likely that he will remain in Catalonia beyond the end of the summer.
