Arsenal are looking at a number of goalkeepers with the expectation Aaron Ramsdale will depart in this summer’s transfer window. The England international lost his place in the starting XI following the arrival of David Raya and as such appears to be looking to depart Emirates Stadium.
Newcastle have shown a strong interest in Ramsdale, though their focus now appears elsewhere with Burnley’s James Trafford linked with a St James’ Park switch. Despite that, the 26-year-old leaving is still likely with the Gunners already identifying a number of replacements.
Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow is of interest to Arsenal with Liverpool also keeping tabs on his situation given he has already worked with Arne Slot. The 26-year-old, who will be at this summer’s European championships, was recently asked about his future with his response certainly telling.
“Those are two very nice clubs,” he told Voetball Zone when asked about interest from Arsenal and Liverpool “Of course it is always nice to be mentioned at big clubs. What I’m just saying is: I’m ambitious.
“As long as I play for Feyenoord, I’ll give everything for that and first I just want to focus on the Dutch team. Would I stay at Feyenoord? You never know, do you? That’s football. You don’t know that. I’m ambitious, I’ve always said that.
“If the opportunity presents itself and a good club comes from abroad, I am open to it. I’ve always said that. As long as I am under contract with Feyenoord, that is never a punishment and I will give everything as long as I play there.” Arsenal will be hoping Bijlow features for the Netherlands over the coming weeks to get a closer look at him before making a final transfer decision.
Alternatively, Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin has emerged as an option with his future in the Spanish capital uncertain. According to Spanish journalist Miguel Angel Diaz via COPE, the Ukraine international has seen his relationship with Carlo Ancelotti go cold and thus potentially giving him the green light to leave with the Gunners named as an interested club.
Due to Thibaut Courtois suffering numerous injuries, Lunin played the bulk of the 2023/24 campaign in goal for Madrid and delivered a number of excellent performances. Though he was not selected for the Champions League final, partly due to illness, Lunin played a huge role in Madrid’s La Liga and European triumph.
