Aaron Ramsdale has been linked with a shock move to Ajax this summer.
The Englishman remains a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium, but everyone at the club can agree now that David Raya is comfortably ahead of him in the pecking order.
That stance is unlikely to change, and the fact that Mikel Arteta decided to hand zero minutes to Ramsdale in the Emirates Cup proves that the goalkeeper has fallen out of favour.
Ajax want to sign Ramsdale and have even made an offer to sign him on loan. However, Arsenal have rejected that bid as they want to move him on permanently.
The Dutch giants remain optimistic that an agreement can be reached, and we think Arsenal can use Ajax’s interest to secure a deal of their own.
Arsenal have swap deal opportunity as Ajax eye Aaron Ramsdale
Arsenal have set a £50 million asking price for Ramsdale, and we just can’t see a way in which Ajax will be able to afford that figure.
That could open the door for a potential swap deal, and there are three Ajax players Arsenal have been linked with in recent months.
Diant Ramaj:
If Ramsdale does leave Arsenal this summer, they will need to sign a replacement for him. The Gunners have been linked with a few goalkeepers in recent months.
Ajax star Diant Ramaj is one name on Arsenal’s wish list.
The 22-year-old is excellent with the ball at his feet and is a good shot-stopper too. He has impressed in Ajax’s colours and would be a great deputy to Raya.
If Ramsdale leaves, Ramaj would be a very decent option for Arsenal.
Jorrel Hato:
Jorrel Hato has been on Arsenal’s radar for the better part of a year now.
The Dutchman was a key target for the Gunners, but after he signed a new contract at Ajax and decided to stay, they turned to Riccardo Calafiori.
However, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Arsenal and Arteta think Hato will be a generational talent, so that interest will likely still remain.
If Arsenal can get Hato in a deal that would see Ramsdale heading in the opposite direction, it would be an incredible bit of business by Edu.
Brian Brobbey:
Like Hato, Brian Brobbey has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.
The Gunners do need a new striker this summer, and they are looking at a number of options ahead of transfer deadline day.
Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres are both too expensive, which is why Arteta and Edu could turn to young Brobbey at Ajax.
The attacker, who scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in the 2023/24 season, would be an excellent long-term option for Arsenal, especially if they can get him as a part of the Ramsdale deal.
