Arsenal consider sensational £80m move for Chelsea’s England Euro 2024 attacker

The Chelsea star impressed in his debut season at Stamford Bridge netting 22 goals in 34 appearances – with the Gunners weighting up making a shock offer to tempt the attacker across London.

With summer target RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko spurning Arsenal’s advances – with the Slovenian international now set to sign a new deal with the Bundesliga side – the North Londoners have turned their attentions nearer home.

The England international moved to the Blues in the summer transfer window from Manchester City for £45m after boss Pep Guardiola allowed the talented youngster to leave the Etihad last summer.

Aside from his goals, Palmer has made a huge impact at Stamfrod Bridge, thrived in an often struggling side to also provide 11 assists with his quick feet and creativity as the Blues rallied to end the season in eighth place.

However, Arsenal sporting director Edu is keen to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad with top quality additions before his team returns to pre-season training in early July, and Palmer – who wants Champions League football – fits the bill perfectly.

While the Blues star is gearing up for Euro 2024 after impressing for England during Gareth Southgate’s side’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Iceland last week at Wembley, Edu is busy preparing a financial deal.

Despite a contract running through until 2030 with the option of a further 12 months, with Chelsea facing its FFP squeeze, Edu knows that an £80m bid would tempt the Blues, as well as Palmer and his representatives CAA Base.

While Palmer’s capture would send a stunning broadside to Premier League title rivals City that Arsenal mean serious business next season as they bid to lift the title for the first time in 21 years.
