Arsenal have reportedly approached PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko regarding a potential transfer this summer, according to Dutch outlet Het Belang van Limburg.
The Belgium international, also linked with a move to Liverpool, has now attracted interest from both Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot, familiar with Bakayoko from his time in the Eredivisie, sees the winger as a potential Premier League addition for around £43 million in the upcoming transfer window. Bakayoko, who made his senior debut for PSV in February 2022, has had an impressive season, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists in 48 appearances.
The talented 21-year-old winger, praised by Belgium teammate Romelu Lukaku for his ‘top-tier’ potential, is expected to have a busy summer ahead. Last summer, Bakayoko rejected approaches from Paris Saint-Germain, Brentford, and Burnley, opting to stay with PSV.
A left-footed attacker who operates from the right, Bakayoko is known for cutting inside and shooting with his favoured foot.
While Arsenal’s primary transfer target lies in the centre-forward position, Bakayoko’s addition would bolster the Gunners’ options on the flanks. Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard delivered outstanding performances this season, and Bakayoko could provide additional firepower.
After narrowly missing out on the Premier League title, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is seeking reinforcements this summer, particularly a striker.
