A former multiple champion in the women’s doubles event of Grand Slam tournaments, Australian Rennae Stubbs is a voice that somehow comes to the defense of the multiple Polish champion. She says that through these attacks, Simona is only tarnishing her reputation.
Halep expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the ITIA decided to forgive Swiatek after she failed an anti-doping test for the substance called trimetazidine. She received only a one-month suspension from tennis, following what the Polish player stated was an indirect contamination, as she initially intended to take a melatonin-based medication to regulate sleep disorders.
“Many players have gotten upset with Iga, but they should be angry with the system. It’s not her fault. She plays by the rules. If she hadn’t, she wouldn’t be playing now,” Stubbs further invoked.
It is worth mentioning that Stubbs is the one who coached Serena Williams at her last Grand Slam tournament she competed in, at the 2022 US Open. Stubbs has won four major titles in the women’s doubles event, including two at Wimbledon in 2001 and 2004.
