Norway head coach Ståle Solbakken has shared a concerning update on the injury to Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard, who was substituted during Norway’s UEFA Nations League match against Austria on Monday.
Ødegaard was forced off in the 67th minute with the score tied at 1-1. The midfielder, visibly in pain, received immediate attention from Norway’s physios on the pitch before being helped to the touchline. Showing clear signs of distress, Ødegaard headed straight down the tunnel for further treatment, with teammate Erling Haaland offering a consoling gesture. Norway went on to win the match 2-1, thanks to Haaland’s late goal.
The injury comes after Ødegaard already had fitness concerns following a knock he sustained in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Brighton just before the international break. Despite completing 90 minutes in Norway’s 0-0 draw against Kazakhstan last Friday, Ødegaard could not finish the match against Austria, being replaced by Kristian Thorstvedt.
