Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has openly expressed his doubts regarding Mikel Arteta’s decision to bring Sterling to the Emirates.
Raheem Sterling’s tumultuous tenure at Chelsea came to an end on transfer deadline day as the former England winger joined Arsenal on a season-long loan. However, not everyone in the Arsenal camp is convinced about the wisdom of this move.
Sterling’s stint at Stamford Bridge was far from satisfying, leading to new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca informing the 29-year-old that he was not part of his plans. With the clock ticking down on the summer transfer window, Sterling seized the opportunity to join Chelsea’s London rivals, describing his move to Arsenal as “really exciting.”
Despite an impressive record of 123 goals in 379 Premier League appearances and four league titles with Manchester City, Sterling’s form has waned in recent years. This decline has led Petit, who won a league and cup double with Arsenal, to question whether Sterling is the right fit for the Gunners.
