Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling, 29, is one of the high-profile names exiled from Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad. Therefore, he needs to leave before the transfer window shuts tonight in order to play senior football this season.
Sky Sports reported on Friday night that Arsenal were making progress to sign Sterling on loan.
Now, journalist Sami Mokbel claims via X that Arsenal are close to securing a deal to sign Chelsea’s Sterling on loan. It is understood there will be no obligation to buy, too.

Sterling played the best football of his career when he was a Manchester City player. Interestingly, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was an assistant coach at the Emirates Stadium for part of that spell.
Sterling’s form in two years at Chelsea has been average by his standards, scoring 19 goals in 81 appearances across all competitions.
