Despite Arsenal seemingly being done for the summer (at least in terms of incomings), Mikel Arteta has thrown a late spanner in the works. Coming from a position of strength after the 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday, the boss dropped somewhat of a bombshell.
“We are a little bit short,” he admitted afterwards. “If we can do something we will do it. We need good availability from everybody, we don’t have 23 outfield players and normally you have to be equipped like that.”
Perhaps the need for more was exaggerated after Gabriel Jesus missed the game with an injury, or maybe it was the parallel sight of a bench that didn’t pack much of a punch. Either way, the door for movement into the Emirates Stadium is still very much open.
After Mikel Merino, Fabrizio Romano isn’t expecting Arsenal to do anything too huge in the final week of the window. However, he is also not ruling out more additions to the squad.
