Arsenal given fresh hope to seal stunning £86m transfer that ‘can happen quickly’

Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has left the door open to a possible move away from the club in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal have shown an interest in the Sweden international throughout the summer window , with the club keen to add to the attacking areas of their squad. The 26-year-old has caught the eye in his first year in one of Europe’s top flights, scoring 43 goals in 50 appearances for Sporting after moving from Coventry City just one year ago.

It seems that his goalscoring is not ending there. So far this season, he has already scored six goals in his opening three games in the Portuguese top league, including a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Farenese on Friday.

It adds to the two goals he got against Nacional and the goal and assist he picked up in the season opener against Rio Ave. It’s perhaps no surprise then that he is being linked to some of Europe’s biggest teams.
