Arsenal got off to a winning start in the Premier League against Wolves on Saturday.
At a sold out and sun-drenched Emirates Stadium, Arsenal were able to hit the ground running in the new Premier League campaign.
Mikel Arteta’s side had by far the better of a fast-paced and entertaining first half. However, David Raya was forced to make one excellent reaction save to stop a header from close range from nestling in the back of his net.
At the break, though, the hosts were 1-0 up. With 25 minutes on the clock, Bukayo Saka arced a magnificent cross into the area, and Kai Havertz timed his run perfectly to meet the delivery just ahead of the Wolves goalkeeper and nod home into an empty net.
Saka predicted Havertz would score first against Wolves, and it certainly seems that targeting the German with crosses was part of the gameplan.
In the second half, Saka responded to Wolves’ show of fight with a powerful strike that flew in at the near post and doubled the Gunners’ advantage.
The Gunners might have had more goals in the game, and had a couple of penalty shouts waved away, but all in all it was a good start, and it was clear that Arsenal have more gears to click in to.
Saka, as he so often does, somewhat stole the show with his display. He was a constant menace to the visitors’ defence and constantly attempted to make things happen.
Arsenal fans wowed by Bukayo Saka vs Wolves
The Emirates Stadium faithful liked what they saw from Saka against Wolves.
Plenty of Arsenal fans took to X to heap praise on the Hale End academy graduate.
One said: “Saka is so good that even at 50% match fitness he will produce a game defining moment.”
Another stated: “Bukayo Saka looks so sharp for a guy who basically had no preseason. This is the best RW in the world.”
