Mikel Merino’s transfer saga continues as Arsenal look to seal a move for the midfielder this weekend.
Arsenal remain interested in signing the Spain international with the 28-year-old also keen on a move to north London after entering the final year of his contract with Real Sociedad. Sporting director Edu has travelled to Spain this week to try and finalise a deal.
The delay in a transfer materialising is said to have been due to the lack of agreement over payment terms for the midfielder. Sociedad are believed to be asking for a fee in the region of £26million (€30m).
Arsenal, though, would prefer to spread any agreed valuation over three years, whereas the Spanish side want the fee up front. Speaking at his press-conference on Friday, boss Mikel Arteta did not give much away when asked for an update on Merino.
