Centre-back Matthijs de Ligt believes his relationship with Noussair Mazraoui will stand them both in good stead following their arrivals at Manchester United.
The defenders sealed their moves to Old Trafford from German club Bayern Munich on Tuesday. De Ligt has signed a deal until 2029 and Mazraoui has put pen to paper on a contract until 2028.
Both players, who could make their debuts in Friday night’s Premier League opener against Fulham at Old Trafford, know each other well, having previously played together at Bayern and Ajax. According to data specialists Transfermarkt, they have played alongside each other 116 times.
De Ligt and Mazraoui will add quality and freshness to United’s defensive options, with the latter capable of playing at both right-back and left-back.
