After striking up deals for Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee this summer, United are still out to sign more defenders with Matthijs de Ligt top of their shopping list. However, the club have been dealt a fresh blow in the middle of a transfer triangle with Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen which involves Jonathan Tah.
The centre-back is wanted by Bayern to allow them to sell De Ligt to United. According to fresh reports, though, the soft deadline put in place by Leverkusen to sell Tah has passed – leaving Bayern and United in limbo.
Elsewhere, there is mounting speculation on United-linked midfielders Youssouf Fofana and Sander Berge – while two current players Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay continue to be linked with departures.
